A day as an ICT specialist apprentice
The first thing I do in the morning is read my e-mails. In addition to regular activities, there is always a surprise or two. There are many challenging tasks where you must work with concentration. These include patching on switches, setting up computers or offering support to our employees, and there are often different demands here. During my training, I am supervised by two vocational trainers with whom I have a good relationship. They help me when I get stuck and are also my contacts for private matters. There is a very pleasant, open atmosphere between my work colleagues and me. My personal highlight was taking responsibility for our Vuzix Smart Glasses (like Google Glasses). These are glasses for the "See-What-I-See" function. They are mainly used for training. I could put on and take care of these glasses. My fitting and communication skills are just two of the many skills that helped me tremendously in my training. During my time at J&J I was able to help create websites and plan network infrastructure. In addition to maintaining a good relationship with my practice instructor, I also feel integrated at J&J. I think that as a trainee I can contribute to the company. At J&J, people from many diverse cultures work together at various locations around the world. Therefore, a good knowledge of English is very advantageous. I end my day by checking our ticket system to see if any new tickets have come in. If I have completed everything, I wanted to do that day, I end my day by shutting down my laptop.
