Every year at the same time, the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies in Switzerland organizes a volunteer week, called "Community Week" . For one week, J&J employees can volunteer, during working hours, to participate in various community activities, local projects and charitable organizations. Despite, or perhaps, because of COVID-19, this social commitment should also be continued this year. Paths were identified and ways were found to enable employees to engage in social activities in a safe manner and in compliance with the guidelines. For this purpose, virtual projects were also implemented to give employees the opportunity to support local NGOs and organizations and to do something good – even from a distance. The well-being of the employees was always paramount, and specific safety measures and requirements were introduced to ensure the health and safety of all participants before and during Community Week.

Despite the many challenges which came along with the pandemic, we were able to carry out 30 projects with about 400 J&J volunteers across 8 sites. With certain adjustments and restrictions to ensure the health and safety of all participants, some events were held face to face. And for the first time ever, in true 2020 spirit, some events were also performed virtually.

Our Credo expresses that supporting local communities is an integral part of our identity and our mission to profoundly change the trajectory of health for humanity. We do not only speak about this – we exemplify it through our actions, even when times are hard, simply because it is who we are.
