A day as a polymechanic apprentice

Most of the time, my day starts with cleaning and tidying up the machines, because we use them to make precision parts. The daily routine, on the other hand, can vary because we manufacture different things, for example body implants that Johnson & Johnson provides for patients.
I get along very well with my fellow apprentice.

Every day in my apprenticeship training, I use skills like: Spatial Imagination, Logical Reasoning, and Mathematics. Since the beginning of my apprenticeship, I have been learning to turn, drill and mill on CNC machines. J&J is a diverse company, with diverse careers, development, and advancement opportunities. I don't know many companies that manufactures or sells so many products under its name.

Description

Thanks to polymechanics, high-tech workpieces can be produced, and new developments implemented. As a polymechanic, you program your work on modern computer-controlled machines or work on conventional milling and turning machines. Based on design drawings, you determine the machining steps and program complex workpieces. You use high-precision measuring and testing instruments to check the finished workpieces. You also assemble devices, systems and machines or put them into operation.
Training & Requirements

Duration: 4 years
Graduation: Federal certificate of proficiency polymechanic EFZ
Previous education: Completed compulsory school with basic requirements
