Silvia's Story

ilvia Gutierrez is a passionate embroider, mother and mentor. The knowledge she continues to acquire from these roles contribute to making her a valuable Customer Engagement Lead. Silvia recently celebrated her 25th anniversary as an employee of Johnson & Johnson.

We would like to invite you to watch her video, where she talks about the support she has received throughout her career and the support she continues to give others around her. The different roles and responsibilities Silvia has had, have shaped her into the woman she is today.

In her 25 years, Silvia has had the chance to develop and take on many new responsibilities across different business areas and regions. Originally hailing from Spain but now living in Switzerland, Silvia has acquired knowledge from people with diverse backgrounds and cultures. Working in different countries and environments taught Silvia the power of appreciating different perspectives and respecting others despite our differences.

Silvia’s story demonstrates the breadth of opportunities Johnson & Johnson can offer employees to enhance their personal and professional development.

One of Silvia's remarkable contributions is her work with one of our Employee Resource Group (ERG) ‘Alliance for Diverse Abilities' (ADA). ERGs are an important part of living into our mission of making diversity and inclusion for our employees an integral part of how we work every day and ADA is one of them, a supportive professional employee-led network.

Silvia knows what a difference it can make to have a supportive environment where your company, leaders, and peers help and support you when you need it most. That’s why the engagement with ADA is of special importance to her. The ADA Employee Resource Group was created to foster a more inclusive workplace for people with diverse abilities and to support employees in the area of mental health.

Other Employee Resource Groups we have within Johnson & Johnson to foster an inclusive environment include Open & Out, Women’s Leadership & Inclusion (WLI), African Ancestry Leadership Council (AALC) and Generation Now.

Silvia meets and engages with many people through her engagement and involvement with ADA. This led to one of her passions, mentorship. Mentoring allows her to help mainly younger colleagues further their careers and navigate the professional world. From mentoring others, she too has learnt lessons from her mentees, contributing to the leader she is today.

Alongside her busy work life, Silvia has a new passion for embroidery. If she is not spending time with her family or watching her son playing football, she will be crafting something beautiful. This creative downtime helps her to relax and forget about the stresses of life.

Silvia’s story showcases our company culture where every person can use their unique experiences and backgrounds to spark solutions that create a better, healthier world.

At Johnson & Johnson, it's more than just work.
